IHPSO RESOURCES

Knowledge and guidance for responsible Professional Practice.

The IHPSO Resources area complements Standards and Core Education with accessible articles, explanations and professional guidance. Content is designed to distinguish clearly between information, Standards, Education and formal Membership.

RESOURCE LIBRARY

A growing knowledge library around Professional Standards.

The Resources area is designed as an editorial library helping Professionals, Education Providers, organisations and interested readers understand key IHPSO concepts. It may include explainers, framework guides, standards background, evidence communication, scope and safety topics, and guidance on Membership and the Registry. The library can be expanded progressively after launch. Resources are explanatory material. They do not create, amend or replace a Standard, and they do not change Membership Requirements. Where a Resource and a published Standard differ, the published Standard is authoritative. Where a Resource and the published Membership Requirements differ, the Requirements are authoritative.

STANDARDS & FRAMEWORKS

From standards to practical decision frameworks.

IHPSO uses recurring professional decision frameworks developed further in Standards and Core Education. These include Ethics Checks, Scope Decision-Making, Evidence Evaluation, Referral Levels, and Safety and Risk-Control logic. Resources may explain these models in accessible form and illustrate them through professional situations. The relevant published Standard or designated Core Education remains authoritative for formal IHPSO standards content.

EVIDENCE & SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION

Make evidence understandable without hiding uncertainty.

A central IHPSO focus is appropriate communication of scientific evidence. Resources may explain why individual studies do not automatically prove a claim, how correlation differs from causation, why biomarkers are not automatically clinical outcomes, and how the IHPSO Evidence Classification works. Where Evidence Levels are used, they apply to specific claims and remain updateable as evidence develops.

SCOPE & REFERRAL

Understand professional boundaries more clearly.

At IHPSO, Scope of Practice depends on actual competence, professional role, applicable rules and context. Resources may explain common boundary cases and show why Education, Coaching, Interpretation, Diagnosis and Treatment are not interchangeable concepts. Referral is not a sign of inadequate competence; it can be a responsible professional decision.

SAFETY & RISK

Understand risk in context – not only individual interventions.

At IHPSO, safety does not mean zero risk. Professional risk consideration includes Hazard, Person, Exposure, Evidence, Controls and Monitoring. Resources may explain topics such as Risk Stacking, Dose and Exposure, Red Flags, stopping criteria, Informed Choice and incident learning. They do not replace individualized medical risk assessment or local emergency procedures.

HEALTH STANDARDS LIBRARY

Twelve Health Standards as a field-specific reference framework.

Health Standards Library 1.0 contains H-01 through H-12. Resources may explain individual topics from this library and place them in broader context – from health claims and biomarkers to wearables, supplements, nutrition, sleep and exercise, through longevity and emerging and experimental interventions. A Resource Article does not amend or replace a Standard. Where content differs, the current published Standard is authoritative.

MEMBERSHIP & REGISTRY

Understand what IHPSO status means – and what it does not.

Resources may explain the Professional Membership Pathway, Core Requirements, Education Badges, Certificates, Professional ID and Public Registry. The distinction remains central: IHPSO Membership and credentials document status within the IHPSO Framework. They do not replace government licensing or automatically expand statutory Scope of Practice. The published Registry Profile is authoritative for a Professional's current IHPSO status.

EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES

Clear, traceable and updateable.

IHPSO Resources are intended to be factual, understandable and transparent. Scientific statements should not exceed the strength of their evidence, and material uncertainty and limitations should remain visible. Every Resource carries a Published date and a Last Reviewed date, and names the IHPSO Standards it relates to. Editorial responsibility for Resources rests with IHPSO. Content may be updated as evidence develops, and an update changes the Last Reviewed date rather than removing the earlier position silently. Commercial interests or relationships that could reasonably affect how content is perceived are disclosed.
