IHPSO EDUCATION PROVIDERS
A standards framework for high-quality Professional Education.
IHPSO publishes Professional Standards that Education Providers and organisations can use as a reference when developing and reviewing their own programmes. Education Provider Recognition is a separate IHPSO programme. It is not open at this time.
FOR EDUCATION PROVIDERS
Standards create a shared language for education quality.
Education Providers operate across programs, audiences and professional backgrounds that can differ substantially. IHPSO provides a standards-based framework for this environment. Universal Professional Standards address Ethics & Professional Conduct, Scope of Practice, Evidence & Scientific Communication, and Safety & Risk. Field-specific Standards Fields can build on that foundation. Providers can use these standards as a reference for reviewing content, claims, scope boundaries and safety principles across Professional Education.
PROVIDER RECOGNITION
Provider Recognition is a separate programme and is not currently open.
IHPSO intends to establish Education Provider Recognition as a distinct programme with its own requirements, review process and published criteria. That programme has not been opened, and no organisation holds IHPSO Provider Recognition today. Requirements, fees, review criteria, recognition periods and renewal rules will be published when the programme opens. Until then no application is possible, and there is no provisional or preliminary recognition.
PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY
Professional credentials belong to the individual – not the Provider.
An IHPSO Professional ID, the Certificates and Badges recorded against it and the individual's Registry history belong to the Professional. An organisation may employ or work with a Professional without holding those credentials. If the working relationship ends, the Professional keeps their Professional ID and their recorded Education Completion. Education Providers therefore cannot transfer, withdraw or reassign an individual's IHPSO credentials.
HEALTH STANDARDS
An existing reference framework for Health Education.
Health is the first IHPSO Standards Field. Health Standards Library 1.0 contains H-01 through H-12 and addresses health claims, biomarkers, consumer health technology, supplements, nutrition, sleep, exercise, environmental exposure, stress and mental wellbeing, hormonal and reproductive health communication, longevity, and emerging and experimental interventions. Education Providers may use these published standards as a reference when developing and reviewing their own professional content. Using the standards alone does not constitute IHPSO Provider Recognition.
WHAT PROVIDERS SHOULD NOT CLAIM
Using standards is not the same as approval, accreditation or recognition.
No organisation may describe itself as IHPSO Approved, IHPSO Accredited, IHPSO Recognised or IHPSO Endorsed. Those descriptions would require a Recognition programme that is not open. Using the published IHPSO Standards as a reference is welcome and is not a form of approval. It does not mean IHPSO has reviewed, assessed or approved a course, a qualification or an organisation. Naming the Standards and their version, for example Health Standards Library 1.0, is the accurate way to describe that use.
INTERESTED IN PROVIDER RECOGNITION
Interest can be registered now. Recognition follows only after the program is released.
Education Providers and organisations that would like to hear when the Recognition programme opens can register their interest through IHPSO Connect. An expression of interest is not an application, it creates no priority, and it is neither a pre-approval nor a promise of future Recognition. It records that an organisation wishes to be informed once requirements are published.
Professional Education can already be aligned with clear standards.
