IHPSO PUBLIC REGISTRY

Professional Standing. Publicly verifiable.

The IHPSO Professional Registry makes published Professional Profiles and their current IHPSO status verifiable. Search for Professionals and review verified information recorded in the IHPSO system.

WHY A PUBLIC REGISTRY

Verification is stronger than a claim.

Badges, Certificates and Membership statements are more transparent when their current status can be verified. The IHPSO Public Registry connects published Professional Profiles with status recorded in the IHPSO system. This allows users to distinguish whether a Professional is currently ACTIVE, expired or shown under another published Membership status. A profile does not automatically disappear when Membership expires: an EXPIRED status remains publicly visible so visitors can distinguish “never registered” from “no longer current”.

WHAT IS VERIFIED

IHPSO-verified data and Professional-provided information remain distinguishable.

The Registry separates information written and verified through the IHPSO system from information supplied by the Professional for public presentation. IHPSO-verified fields include Professional ID, Membership Status, Membership Type, Core Requirements, Education Badges, Certificates, Standards Fields and Verified Since. Professional-provided information may include Display Name, Country, Photo, Biography, Website, Languages, Location and Social Links. The Registry does not automatically verify external licences or professional authorizations unless they are expressly identified as verified.

PROFESSIONAL ID

A permanent identity within the IHPSO system.

Once all applicable Core Requirements are fulfilled and the required activation process is completed, a Professional may receive a unique IHPSO Professional ID. The format is IHPSO-P-000001 and follows one global sequential series. The ID belongs to the individual, not to a particular Membership year, employer or organisation. If Membership expires and is later reactivated, the same Professional ID remains with the person.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS

Current status is visible – not only original completion.

IHPSO records a small number of public statuses. ACTIVE means the applicable requirements are fulfilled and the Membership is within its paid period. EXPIRED means the paid period has ended. Expiry is the ordinary outcome of a Membership that was not renewed and is not a disciplinary finding. INACTIVE indicates a voluntarily dormant Membership. SUSPENDED and REVOKED are governance states, applied by IHPSO where its own procedures require it, and are separate from expiry. The Registry shows current standing, so a visitor sees where a Professional stands today rather than only what was once completed.

CORE EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

Education completion is documented transparently.

The four universal Core Requirements are Ethics & Professional Conduct, Scope of Practice, Evidence & Scientific Communication, and Safety & Risk Fundamentals. Successful completion may be documented in the IHPSO system through the Education Badges Ethics Trained, Scope Trained, Evidence Trained and Safety Trained and the corresponding Certificates. A badge is not merely an image: it can link to the current Professional Profile and therefore to live status information.

CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION

Every certificate can be checked at the source.

Each IHPSO Certificate carries a QR code and a verification address that lead to a permanent IHPSO verification record. The record shows what was completed and when, and separately shows the Professional's current Membership status. The two are deliberately shown apart. A completed Core Course remains documented after a Membership expires, and a current Membership is not by itself evidence that a particular course was completed. A verification address continues to work after a status changes, so a Certificate shared earlier can still be checked later and will show the position as it stands at the time of checking.

SEARCH & FILTER

Find and verify Professionals.

Published Professional Profiles can be searched by name, IHPSO Professional ID or country, and filtered by status and country. A profile appears in the Registry only after it has been published, so a search that returns nothing means there is no published profile under that name.

PUBLICATION & REVIEW

Payment alone does not publish a Professional Profile.

Payment opens the Membership Pathway but does not create public ACTIVE status. Once Core Requirements and other applicable requirements have been fulfilled, the Professional Profile is initially created unpublished. Publication occurs only after the designated IHPSO approval step. This keeps the public Registry separate from purchase or enrolment alone.

LIMITS OF VERIFICATION

The Registry shows what IHPSO can actually verify.

An IHPSO Registry entry is not a government licensing check and does not broadly validate every external qualification, claim or professional activity of an individual. It documents current IHPSO status and those credentials, Fields or information recorded in the system or expressly identified as verified. Professionals remain responsible for complying with their statutory and professional Scope of Practice.
