1. Membership term

IHPSO Professional Membership is provided for a paid Membership period of one year, unless another term is expressly shown at the time of purchase. At launch, the price is USD 199 per year. The first Membership year includes access to the four required IHPSO Core Courses and their assessments.

2. Automatic renewal

Where automatic renewal is selected or included in the Membership subscription, the Membership is scheduled to renew for another annual period. The current renewal price is USD 199 per year. This is current launch pricing and does not constitute a permanent price guarantee. If the renewal price changes, IHPSO will provide appropriate notice before the new price applies to a future renewal.

3. Cancellation of future renewal

A Member may cancel future automatic renewal through the available account or subscription-management process. Cancellation prevents the next scheduled automatic renewal, does not normally terminate the already-paid Membership period early, does not erase completed Core Education, and does not invalidate legitimate Certificates or Badges merely because future renewal has been cancelled. A Member who cancels renewal may continue to hold the applicable Membership status until the end of the already-paid period, subject to all other IHPSO eligibility and governance requirements.

4. Paid-through date

The paid-through date determines the end of the current paid Membership period. Cancelling future renewal does not normally change this date. Example: Membership paid through 31 December; renewal cancelled in October; Membership may remain ACTIVE through 31 December; no successful renewal means status becomes EXPIRED after the paid period ends, assuming all other Membership requirements remain satisfied.

5. Membership expiry

Where no successful renewal occurs before the end of the applicable paid Membership period, the Membership may move to EXPIRED. EXPIRED means that the paid Membership period has ended. Expiry is not a disciplinary finding, does not erase the Professional ID, does not erase legitimate Education Completion, does not automatically invalidate legitimate Course Certificates or Badges, and may remain visible in the Public Registry.

6. Failed renewal payment

If an automatic renewal payment fails, the payment provider or subscription system may attempt one or more additional payment attempts; IHPSO may send service communications concerning the failed payment; the Member may be asked to update the payment method; payment failure alone does not erase existing Education Completion or Professional ID records. The exact timing and number of payment retries may depend on the payment and subscription systems in use. IHPSO does not guarantee that every failed payment will receive a specific number of retry attempts.

7. Status during payment retry

A failed renewal payment does not automatically create a new paid Membership period. Where the previous paid Membership period has not yet ended, the Member may retain the status otherwise applicable to that existing paid period. If no successful renewal is completed by the end of the paid-through period, the Membership may become EXPIRED.

8. Successful retry

If a failed renewal payment is subsequently completed successfully in accordance with the applicable subscription process, the next paid Membership period may be activated. Successful payment does not automatically override other IHPSO requirements and does not automatically change SUSPENDED to ACTIVE, REVOKED to ACTIVE, incomplete eligibility to approved, incomplete education to completed, or a failed assessment to passed. Payment and Professional Standing remain separate system concepts.

9. Suspension and revocation

Cancellation, renewal and payment rules do not override IHPSO governance decisions. A Professional who is SUSPENDED or REVOKED does not automatically regain ACTIVE Professional Standing because a payment is processed. Reinstatement, where available, follows the applicable IHPSO governance and appeals procedures.

10. Refunds

Except where IHPSO expressly agrees otherwise, a payment was duplicated, unauthorised or made in error, the agreed service was not provided, or mandatory applicable law requires otherwise, Membership fees are generally not refundable after the paid Membership period has commenced. Cancellation of future renewal does not by itself create a right to a prorated refund for the current Membership period.

11. Core Education after cancellation or expiry

A completed Core Course remains recorded as completed. A Member is not normally required to repeat a successfully completed Core Course merely because future renewal was cancelled or Membership later became EXPIRED. If IHPSO introduces materially revised educational requirements in the future, any new requirement will be communicated separately.

12. Certificates and Badges

Legitimately earned Certificates and Badges remain historical records of Education Completion. Normal Membership expiry does not automatically void them. Verification may continue to show Credential / Certificate: VALID and Current Membership Status: EXPIRED. This separation is intentional.

13. Reactivation after expiry

A Professional whose Membership has expired may later seek to reactivate or purchase Membership again. Reactivation is subject to the IHPSO requirements applicable at that time. IHPSO may require renewed payment, updated contact or professional information, confirmation of current eligibility, acceptance of current Membership Terms, or completion of newly introduced material requirements. Previously legitimate Education Completion remains part of the Professional's IHPSO record unless the underlying record itself was invalid.

14. Changes to payment method

Members are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method where automatic renewal is intended. A failed, expired or blocked payment method may prevent renewal. IHPSO is not responsible for a failed renewal caused by a payment method being invalid, expired, declined or otherwise unavailable.

15. Service communications

IHPSO may send transactional/service emails relating to upcoming renewal, successful renewal, failed payment, payment-method issues, cancellation, expiry or reactivation. These communications are operational service messages and are separate from optional marketing or newsletter communications.

16. B2B nature / withdrawal

IHPSO Professional Membership is offered to individuals aged 18 or over acting in a professional or business capacity. It is not offered for primarily private or consumer purposes. Consumer withdrawal rights therefore do not form part of the standard IHPSO Professional Membership offering. Nothing in this Policy excludes any mandatory right that applies notwithstanding the professional/business nature of the transaction.

17. Cancellation by IHPSO

IHPSO may terminate or refuse renewal where reasonably justified, including in cases involving fraud, material misrepresentation, credential misuse, serious breach of Membership Terms, serious governance or integrity concerns, or legal/regulatory requirements. Where the issue concerns Professional Standing, the Registry & Credential Policy and Appeals Policy may also apply. Termination by IHPSO does not necessarily erase legitimate Education Completion.

18. Technical subscription status vs IHPSO status

The status of a subscription within Shopify or another billing system is not necessarily the same as the Member's IHPSO Professional Standing. For example: Subscription cancelled for future renewal + paid-through date still current may coexist with IHPSO Membership ACTIVE; or subscription payment successful may coexist with IHPSO Professional Standing SUSPENDED. IHPSO Professional Standing is determined by the complete Membership and governance record.

19. Changes to this Policy

IHPSO may update this Policy to reflect payment-system changes, subscription-provider changes, Membership-process updates or applicable legal requirements. The current version and effective date will be displayed with the Policy. Material changes affecting existing paid Memberships will be communicated where appropriate.
